From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).

of the switch, would only work out to, say, 1% or at the most 2%, of the effective resistance of the circuit.
The great resistance in a starter motor circuit which wants keeping down is the internal resistance of the battery. Much more depends upon this than in a slight change in the cables, provided these cables are not unduly long to start with.

The SwitchBoard.

This appears to be very neat, but nothing can be seen of the mechanism.

Junction Box.

This is quite a new departure from ordinary standard practice, and though this may be alright, we should be inclined, not being in a position to pass our opinion from actual practical results, to mistrust this method of making the connections. It may have advantages in the case of those who do not realise the importance of sound and carefully made electrical connections. One sees that it introduces a difficulty in tracing or testing out one's circuits, as the moment the lid{A. J. Lidsey} is taken off, all the connections become loose. Personally, we should not favour this kind of thing at all.

Wiring.

The wiring appears to have had a considerable amount of thought with a view to simplification.

We return herewith the cutting from "The Motor" as we have in our possession a booklet descriptive of this system.
