Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. copy to Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} Mr Pattinson - Chateauroux accident. With further reference to your memo. Lr{Mr Ellor}/CEP.4/EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 9.II.36 and our reply Srll/Crn.I2.II.36 we are pleased to inform you that Dr Galop, as a result of the recent x-ray plate taken of Pattinson's arm, is now of the opinion that the arm is now following its normal course. Although it would be possible to remove the light plaster in a month's time, Dr Galop thinks that owing to the difficulty experienced by Pattinson not making bone as he should do, it would be more advisable to keep the plaster for two months from now. At this moment, if Pattinson can return to Paris for the plaster to be removed, Dr Galop will do it, or this could be done by a doctor in England. Dr Galop seems to be perfectly satisfied with the arm, and Pattinson can now proceed home. A full report on the case from beginning to end is being prepared by Dr Galop, and we will let you have it as soon as possible, together with a suitable translation. Pattinson will be leaving Paris for home on Friday week, the 27th instant. It has been agreed by all concerned that during his journey from Paris to Derby, in order to minimize the risk of damaging his arm, the best form of travel would be Imperial Airways from Paris to London, and we feel you will agree on this point. We will see Pattinson on to the 'plane leaving Paris (Le Bourget) on the 27th inst., which is due at Croydon aerodrome at 2.45 p.m. Could a car be/ sent to Croydon to transport Pattinson to St Pancras station, to catch the 4.25 p.m. train to Derby, and another car to meet him at Derby station (7 p.m.) to run him to his home address ? This arrangement will, we feel sure, be the most suitable. Attached to Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}'s copy of this memo. is a copy of our memo. Srll/Crn.I2.II.36 to Lr.{Mr Ellor} Would Lr{Mr Ellor} and Tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} please be good enough to let us know if the suggested arrangements meet with approval on your side. P.S. Dr Galop does not think that Pattinson, Sr. whose general state of health is not very good, will be fit to resume his normal duties for about four months, but says that as soon as the plaster has been removed, Pattinson ought to be given some light duty - this will take his mind off the arm trouble. | ||
