x202 Exptl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.3/JH. 10th June, 1936. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London. N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. Russell Dear Sirs, We recently ordered from you a special oil gauge X.71118 under our order 17589 for Mr. Hall's Bentley car. We have received an oil gauge of similar size to our standard, only with a flange for fitting into an instrument board separate from the patch. This gauge however is nothing like the gauge we require which should have an extra large dial. As we have found a good use for the gauge that you sent it will not be returned. Will you please therefore prepare a gauge to your drawing X71118. Perhaps it would be better for you to send a print of your drawing so that we can confirm that this time you are working on the correct size gauge. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LTD. | ||
