Confirmation of instructions for building six experimental 'Peregrine' chassis with varying specifications and completion dates.

Worl/CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester}18.8.32. "PEREGRINE". This is to confirm the verbal instructions issued by Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} on the 23rd ultimo to:- By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By/SS.{S. Smith} Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms. that we were to make in all 6 Experimental "Peregrine" chassis, and that the whole of these had to be completed and running within three months from the 23rd July. No.1. of the 6. The exisiting Experimental car is to be regarded as No.1. of the 6. The second chassis should be exactly similar to the first one, and the existing engine unit should be used for this car. Both these cars will, therefore, have a stroke of 4.125. The remaining 4 chassis should be built up with 4" stroke, and the R.R. 6/8 balance weight scheme. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} was shown Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/E22.7.32. which calls for attention to various other alterations mostly of a minor nature. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms. was instructed to order 6 sets of this material to By's specification. The 6 chassis in question should be completed and ready for the fitting of the bodies which are promised on the following dates:- (See EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/10.8.32.) 1st - Completed. 2nd - Sept. 21st ('D' type steering; Side wheel carrier & shuttered bonnet). 3rd - Oct.5th. ('E' type steering; Rear Dummy Hub and louvred bonnet.) 4th - " 12th. ('E' type steering; Side Wheel Carrier and louvred bonnet). 5th - " 19th. ('E' type steering; Rear Dummy Hub and louvred bonnet). 6th - " 19th. ('D' type steering; Side wheel carrier and shuttered bonnet). | ||
