produce the best results. For the first 250 chassis, the Chloride batteries are now ordered and it does not seem that we can improve upon these at the moment.

P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} BATTERY.

We have received another P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} battery made up of ebonite cells in a case with the usual arrangement of cells specified. This battery has a good appearance and quite good vent holes and vents. The connectors from cell to cell are similar to those of the Lucas battery, that is to say, rubber covered flexible cables are sweated into lugs which fit over the terminals. The terminals themselves are lead covered and quite a good job. The capacity of this battery, for its size, 21.65" long by 7.3" wide by 9.45" high (to top of terminals) and weight 97¾ lbs, is disappointing. We have only obtained 51 ampere hours at the 6 ampere rate and 42.5 ampere hours at the 10 ampere rate, although the P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} Company assured us that they had sent it to us in a condition in which it was capable of giving 60 hours at 6 amperes, and sent us a record from the recording instrument shewing a capacity of this amount.

PREMIER BATTERY.

We have received a battery from the Premier Company, which, however, has not very many good points and the capacity for its size, is rather disappointing. Such a battery as sent, would be out of the question for use on an R.R. car. The dimensions are 16.3" long by 7.25" wide by 9.7" high (to top of handles), weight 92¼ lbs; rated ampere hour capacity
