Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} is anxious that a scheme for servicing the rationalized range of chassis (cast iron engines) should be got out as soon as possible. He wants a booklet produced for all servicing due at 10,000 miles or yearly.

I should be very grateful if you could let me have notes setting out the method of doing the following jobs. Photographs can and will be used to illustrate it. Where the word "photo" appears, it means that a picture of the part has been taken. This may be of help to you in compiling the notes.

Your own idea as to how the job should be carried out is what is wanted.

1. Clean dynamo and fit new brushes (photo).

2. Clean starter motor, brushes, etc. Check terminals for tightness. (photo).

3. Clean and adjust distributor points, check timing, lubricate distributor, cam, etc. (photo).

4. Sparking plugs ? Gap.

5. Battery - check each cell with voltmeter, with all lamps on? Check terminals for tightness and clean and remake contacts.

6. Lamps - check over and clean contacts, removing rust, etc.

7. Speedometer and revolution counter - check drives for noise and lubricate as necessary.
