For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst.

Dear Sirs,

Automatic Mixture Control.

We are in receipt of your letter of the 5th inst., for which we thank you, and have received Bentley Mixture Control fitted with testing block and dial test indicator.

We have tested this unit both for temperature and induction pipe depression effect, and are quite satisfied with it. However, in the course of fitting to an engine, the pipe from the water jacket phial to the bellows became detached from the bellows bottom plate, owing to the fact that this pipe does not seem to be inserted very far into the bottom plate union, resulting in the soldered joint failing. This pipe should project into the union for at least .375". We have therefore re-soldered this pipe to minimise loss of liquid from bellows etc., and are returning the unit to you for refilling.

We should like you to make up the other unit to give precisely the same characteristics as the first, and forward it to us. In the event of one unit being completed before the other we should like it sent on in advance.

We are returning the dial indicator and test block with the damaged unit.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
