Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re RR.Type Marles Weller Steering. Copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}:B. Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/MJ.23.5.33 and E.4/HP.24.5.33 the description of what happened to the Marles Weller steering on 58-GW is not very encouraging as given in E's memo., and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s memo. says that we have produced a steering to E's design which would be more expensive than the Marles Weller, and goes on to suggest that we should not spend any more money in attempting to make a Marles Weller steering. Nevertheless, as he points out, it leaves us with the problem that we consider the RR steering, especially on the big car, to be its worst feature. I remember that we bought an American steering but I do not remember what happened to it, but it does look as if this question of what is the best way of tackling our steering is one which wants going into very carefully with all those concerned. Personally I think Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is right in saying that the RR.steering is one of our worst features and I have expressed this view for some years. Sg.{Arthur F.
