W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Rolls-Royce Limited.,
Derby.

Dear Robotham,

I thank you for your letter of the 28th, and am afraid, after all, we are not in a position to undertake any aluminium castings for you. I have investigated the position very thoroughly and am quite satisfied that our Foundry will be working to its full capacity for many months to come, and therefore I would not feel justified in taking on further commitments.

As regards your proposed visit, we shall be only too pleased to see you here any time and will be glad to discuss such items as bearings and gearbox design since we are, at the moment, laying out a new four-speed synchro mesh box suitable for our heaviest passenger vehicles. I will be at Leyland myself until mid-day on Wednesday next, and these Works close down from Saturday until the following Thursday morning for Whitsuntide holidays. If it would suit your purpose to come this week, even later than Wednesday, Pilkington will be very glad to see you and perhaps you will arrive the evening before and stay the night at our guest house.

Could you possibly let me know something on receipt of this letter either by 'phone or wire, and I could make the necessary arrangements for you.

Kind regards.

Yours sincerely,
H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Spurrier
