Dear Sirs, The writer begs to confirm his visit to your Works on Thursday, the 20th.inst. when he saw Mr. West on the question of testing Revolution Counters and Speedometers. The writer respectfully suggests that an improvement could be made as there is too much risk of human element in the time taken for the Hasler reading; the operator has only to slightly release his drag on the small fly wheel which would momentarily increase the revs: and which, as you have a 6 to 1 increase on your Dynamo, would greatly magnify the error. This would account for differences in readings obtained here and at your Works. Mr West will remember that the only variation taken on the test when the writer controlled the instrument was a matter of three to five revs: As requested by Mr.West we are putting in hand one 2 - 1 Reduction Box complete with the necessary attachments for fitting to an A.T.Cable and A.T. instrument, also, one 3 ft. cable suitable for use on your test bench, further, one special bracket for holding A.T. instruments. The question of Revolution Counter needles waving was taken up by the writer, and this was immediately overcome by the new cable brought with him, Mr.West approved of this and was perfectly satisfied with the performance, and it is arranged that in future all cables supplied will be as per the sample left with you on Thursday.
