| 261. Rml/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 2nd June, 1939. R.R. Jackson, Esq., Brooklands Track, WEYBRIDGE, Surrey. Dear Mr. Jackson, Thank you for your letter of the 19th May. I am sorry that this was overlooked. I am sending you herewith particulars of the Rolls-Royce Apprenticeship scheme. With regard to raising the compression ratio of the Bentley, we have a piston which is applicable to 'M' Series Bentleys and subsequent cars, but not to models built before this date. The piston raises the compression ratio from 6 1/2 to 7 1/4:1. The price of these pistons is about £6/10/- per set. It is never entirely satisfactory changing pistons on a car which has done a considerable mileage as they take some little time to settle down, and the oil consumption usually suffers in consequence. If the car is a post 'M' Series model, you can obtain the pistons by writing to Mr. Haywood, Manager of our Repair Dept. Yours sincerely, | ||
