AJL Please see me W/P. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X1583. BY/Mtn4/N.22.10.31. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Referring to your memo Gy/EWP{Mr Punt}15/MLG.20.10.31, relating to Wakefield's XXL oil as an alternative to Price's Amber 'A' for the gearbox, we have discussed this matter with the Experimental Dept. who inform us that they have not tried Wakefield's XXL. oil, therefore, we cannot agree to this being recommended as an alternative to Amber 'A' at the present time. We have taken up the question of a suitable oil for our gearbox with Messrs.Wakefield's in London on previous occasions, but we have not yet been able to approve of any of the oils they have submitted, we will, however, take the matter up with them again in view of the information given to you by their Paris Representative.
