This gave us a still further slight improvement.
We next fitted a tube 2.5" diameter to the top casting so that we could fix up our adjustable air silencer as previously fitted to our P.II's, using a 2.5" diameter air intake pipe. After trying various sizes of tuning chambers, and lengths of intake pipe, we found the sizes and capacities we required to give us 100% efficiency. We then had a silencer made up as per sketch 3, and fitted to the car with 100% results. We are checking for loss of power, but are fairly certain we are O.K. in this respect.
