THE CLIFFORD RECTIFIER For preventing dilution of Crank Case Oil in MOTOR VEHICLES. Protected all over the World. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Automobile Engineers are now seeking a solution of the problems which arise from contamination of Crank Case oil in Motor Vehicles. Contamination arises from two causes :— (a) From solid materials such as road dust, carbon, etc. (b) From liquids, viz., petrol and condensed water vapour. The Clifford Rectifier deals with the latter which is much the more serious of the two forms of contamination. Petrol condenses and is present on the walls of the combustion chamber during the intake stroke. During compression and the working stroke the liquid petrol is blown by the piston rings and deposits in the crank case and mixes with the lubricating oil. Vapour also is blown by rings and condenses in the crank case. Water from the atmosphere also condenses in the combustion chamber and finds its way to the crank case and emulsifies with the oil.
