To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X4305 E2/G8.6.21. Y4305 RE. STARTING AND SLOW RUNNING DEVICE - 40/50 CHASSIS. In connection with the above, and chassis 6.EX Mr. Royce would like to know why you have blocked up the holes in the diaphragm of 6.EX throttle. This results in an enclosed space, and Mr. Royce stated that an explosion occurred behind the throttle, striK-ing the foot a blow with the accelerator pedal while he was using the car in Lincolnshire. Further, it should be noted that the extra spring for shutting the valve should be arranged externally, which we will do in scheming the alterations for the hot spot and re-arrangement of the slow running and priming jet.
