[Handwritten, struck through: X8770] To B.Y. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG23.1.28. [Handwritten: V8724] CONTINENTAL PHANTOM. [Handwritten: Hubbs] As regards the 12 sets of parts which have been instructed up in the Works, we recommend the following parts should be ordered :- (1) Pistons. This should be the present standard pattern made with the flat top. (2) Radiator tubes. 7 mm. type reduced to 6 mm. on the small diameter. (3) Ignition wiring tube for the battery wires should be ebonite covered steel tube with the brackets earthed. (4) Owing to the light weight on the rear, the proportion of front braking should be increased. We have handed to BY/SS.{S. Smith} particulars of what we recommend. We also think these 12 cars should be up to date as regards other parts which have recently been standardised. We are referring to parts of which we are having to use up existing stocks before the new parts are available. We recommend they should have :- (1) Scrubbing contacts on the battery ignition. (2) Watford magneto without sleeve - and any other improvements which are in a similar position. As regards the induction pipe. We should like if possible to fit to these cars the weir type induction pipe with water heating and get rid of the objectionable valve in the exhaust pipe. As we have got to make new pieces in any case, we think we ought to fit the best we can. At the moment however we cannot give you complete information contd :- | ||
