X4038 @ Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}5/MJ. Sept. 25th.1930. Messrs. H.M. Hobson Ltd., 47-55, Acton Vale, LONDON. W.3. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Major Searight. With further reference to your letters of the 11th. Sept., and the 12 Sept., respectively. The two gauge heads you sent us have been tested and we agree that the arror in the scale reading on the 20 HP. gauge is only the thickness of one of the dual lines on the scale. However, our main complaint is on the 40/50 where the scale is naturally finer than on the 20 HP. and therefore this variation is an appreciable part of a gallon. Apart from this inaccuracy which occurs in the reading of the gauge, we think you will agree that the badly tapered glass is unsightly. We would therefore ask you to supply us with glasses having good tapers even if it means scrapping a number of those that you produce. We propose to let you have back any gauge heads on which, in our opinion, the taper is too badly exaggerated to be passable. Our Production Dept. inform us that they have sent you no less than four tank units with defective pump tubes with the following numbers and dates :- R.9630 dated September 5th. R.9615 dated September 3rd. R.9601 dated August 28th. and R.9314 dated June 12th. and a further one on the 11th.inst. It has come to our knowledge that Mr. Fairey Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
