A.{Mr Adams} T. SPEEDOMETER CO., LTD. -3- CONTINUATION.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. 31st May, 1934.

Of the above total number -23 - we admit the fault of 5 of the balance there is little doubt but that the cause of any noise on these instruments would be the method of running the flex, and, when this is carefully adjusted and an easy run of flex arranged, the noise disappears.

40/50 H.P.

Order No. Fault. Remarks.

R.4866. Speedometer head. No Total Mileage had failed, due
information as to defect. to breakage of pinion. Adjusted F.O.C.

R.4960. Instrument clicks at 30 Fault admitted. Adjusted F.O.C.
m.p.h.

R.5197. Needle sticks. Admitted our fault, due to
acetate disc. Exchanged for
celluloid disc F.O.C.

R.5331. Needle vibrates. Admitted, due to tight places in gear.

R.5497. Needle vibrates. Agreed. Adjusted F.O.C.

R.5513. Needle vibrates. Admitted. Adjusted F.O.C.

R.5573. Needle vibrates. Admitted. Adjusted F.O.C.

On the above, we admit the trouble coming under our Guarantee on 6 items. Most of these, you will see, are due to tight gears. This will entirely disappear on the new light-weight instruments, because the drive, as you know, is being taken from one point only, and, therefore, a much nicer adjustment for the worm and wheel can be effected.

Another point is that both these types of instruments are liable, even with the greatest care in handling, to the risk of being knocked out of adjustment, due to the fact that the dial, hand, hair-spring, etc. are exposed. The writer is always insisting on the greatest care being taken in handling these instruments at our end, and we feel sure that, at your end also, every care is taken in handling but there is always this little extra risk.

Always at your service, we beg to remain,
Yours faithfully,
For THE A.T. SPEEDOMETER CO. LTD.,
