'RE: REGULATOR RESISTANCE BURN OUTS.

Replying to your Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}2/HR.10.5.37 we have experienced only one other case of a regulator resistance burn out, and after carefully considering the whole matter at the time it was decided not to make any modification to the unit, as it was the opinion of all concerned that sticking of theregulator in the position which would cause the trouble could only occur in very exceptional circumstances, i.e. with the first pair of contacts open as well as the second.

It would now appear from your memo that this has occurred more frequently than we imagined possible, and we will take immediate steps to get tested a modified resistance unit capable of dissipating the heat generated.

It is most important, however, that we obtain from you, if possible, the faulty regulators for immediate investigation in the Laboratory.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.
