EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK.21/JH.

13th. December, 1938.

Messrs. Ferodo Ltd.,
Chapel-en-le-Frith.

For the attention of Mr. J.N.Longley.
Spring Interleaving.

Dear Sirs,

We are in need of some further supplies of inter-leaving similar to that which we have already received, but 2¼" in width instead of 2". We would like it made up in lengths of 27½", with provision for splicing as before.

Messrs. Toledo Woodhead are making up some springs for us in connection with this and it would therefore accelerate matters if you were to send the interleaving direct to them.

We have ordered six springs From Toledo Woodhead and they will therefore require 36 lengths altogether. However we shall probably require some further interleaving later and we think it would therefore be advisable to make up another twelve lengths, at the same time which we would like sent to us.

We enclose a sketch of cross sectional dimensions of a 2¼" spring leaf.

As regards the previous supply of your 2" inter-leaving we received, we would like to point out that, owing to an error on our part, we ordered it in lengths of 24". We would like this length to be increased to 24¼" in the next and following batches.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
