YOUR REFERENCE Lr{Mr Ellor}/Wst.3/AP. ROYAL AIRCRAFT ESTABLISHMENT, SOUTH FARNBOROUGH, HANTS. 1st April, 1937. Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, Coil Ignition. We have to thank you for the information given in your letter of March 25th, 1937, and for the skew gears; the latter will be very useful and expedite the making of the necessary test rig. We note that it will be one month before screens in the form of castings are available. This will not affect the making of interference test in the laboratory as we can easily enclose the ignition units in a screening box. The point on which we are not clear is the screening of the units on the Kestrel engine in the Hart aircraft which you propose to send to us for interference tests in flight. We should be glad to know whether you propose to await the cast screens before delivering the aircraft or whether it will be sent without screens. According to the last paragraph of your letter it would appear that the provision of the necessary screens will be left to us. We shall be glad to hear from you on this point. Yours faithfully, Chief Superintendent, R.A.E. | ||
