X.3754 RE DIAGONAL WEB SCRAPER PISTON
IN CAST IRON WITH SPRING SKIRT.

We send you herewith drawing No.LeC.1186 shewing the above. The spring skirt is formed by cutting a horizonal slit .200" wide and a slit inclined at 71° with the vertical 1.125" wide.

It is thought, to make the piston a more practical job, to use the stronger saws that the wider dimensions of slits allow, and at the same time the necessity for drilling in the corners is cancelled.

A further advantage is that the saw for the horizonal slit is strong enough to cut the uneven section of piston wall immediately below the scraper ring, as aimed at (S487a) in N.3080, which allows the most efficient use of the length dimensions of the piston.
