With reference to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M22.10.30. (1) Locomotive type brake shoe on the front brakes. These have been tried on the front of 19-EX car. So far they have been squeaking badly. We shall try these with a different lining. (2) Helical 3rd. speed with Maybach type jaws. We have been trying these jaws with various angles and various types of engagement, none of which have given us an easy change. At the present moment the box is being used for the tests on the Salerni coupling. We are, however, fitting the complete Maybach scheme with spring controlled change, to the gearbox on 9-EX. (3) Improved single point mounting for the radiator. N. Scheme 3110. This is now completed and is being tested on the bump. (4) Improved steering column controls. These are fitted to 22-EX. and will be brought down to W.W. for inspection. (5) Pipe coil connections to the back axles of the 25 HP. We have completed these parts though they are not yet fitted to 18-G4. (6) Specimen epicyclic gear train for silence. The epicyclic gear train we are proposing to test is the one chosen for the No.3 box i.e. two speed dog change epicyclic with Maybach clutches. We are pushing this job. (7) Clutch discs lightened in the centre by drilling holes. In view of the fact that we have abandoned the fabric on the driven plate for which this scheme was intended we have not tested out this plate. There is no reason, | ||
