Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Steadman. We thank you for your letter of February 8th. We regret that we have no standard Rheostat of the continuous coil type suitable for regulating the speed of our Heater Motor from zero to maximum r.p.m. As arranged on the telephone we are sending you three separate Rheostats which if connected in series will give the required speed variation. There is, of course, no difficulty in making up a Rheostat having the range required, but as we understand that on this occasion it is wanted for experimental work only, it seems most convenient to us both to send you three standard Rheostats which we have in stock. We confirm that we shall in the course of the next day or two send you a ball bearing motor similar to the one which you are now testing, but fitted with ball bearings. Yours truly, THE BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. LTD. W. Martin-Hurst. Director. Handwritten notes: - Pencil note, center: 1138? - Ink note, top right: hdw STD Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/SM | ||
