Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x1729a Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre. France. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G/W.H. Cadillac. The Two Cars are ready for Boulogne but up to the time of writing I have not received the telegram confirming the visit. We have had a lot of trouble getting the quiet tappets right. The concentric bearings of the rockers kept sticking and keeping the valves open. We have dismantled them twice and thoroughly washed the parts in parrafin before we could get over the trouble. We must be getting a greater leak of oil from the bearings of the crankshaft as we have had to strengthen the release oilvalve spring considerably to keep the oil pressure up to 11lbs. at slow speeds, when hot. We hope however that it will now last out the mileage. G.W.H. [Signature] G.W.Hancock. | ||
