Re attached.

In view of EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s pencilled remarks on Park Ward's invoice, I have endeavoured to obtain a reduction in the amount of their charge for the work on the above. But so far unsuccessfully.

Park Wards claim that when the body was despatched to W. the scuttle was exactly suitable for our dashboard but that in the actual mounting slight distortion took place. They say that if they themselves had carried out the mounting this distortion would have been avoided. Do you think there is anything in this please?

To me I must say it seems not unreasonable.

We know from experience that mounting the body is a lot more than merely putting it into position on the chassis. There is always a certain amount of lining up to do and the coachbuilder anticipates and allows for this.

Park Ward's case is that they made an allowance for the non-mounting of the body and that this allowance included the cost of any lining up that might be necessary.

Having been called on subsequently to line up the body, they consider they can reasonably expect to be paid for the work.

Kindly return the attached with your reply.
