Attention of C.Ward,Esq., Dear Sir, Re: Saloon for Short Wheelbase Bentley B.5. Type Chassis. In a day or so the writer hopes to call on you and to leave with you sufficient designs to enable you to rebuild the Dummy Chassis for the Short Wheelbase Bentley B.5. Type Chassis, and also to put in hand a body. The management are anxious to gain more experience of your latest Light Type All-Metal Body Construction, and wish the body for this chassis to be built by that method. We would be glad if you would give us an estimate of the time required to build a body for this particular chassis, firstly by the All-Metal Construction already referred to, and secondly by the orthodox wood and aluminium construction. It should be born in mind that no existing patterns, jigs or parts for the body for the Standard Bentley can be used, as the proportions of the body of necessity are different. If you could possibly give us a reply by return, we would be able to come to a decision and so draw up a specification of the coachwork. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
