Engine oil supply during inversion and the adoption of a relief and non-return valve for existing engines.

nearer the engine the quantity will be less on the assumption that during inversion the oil supply line between the tank and the pump is emptied into the engine.

As regards the adoption of the scheme for existing engines. The relief valve and non-return valve probably could be made up as a unit to screw into the engine lower half in place of the scavenge oil union body. In this case the conversion would be simple, light, easy to fit, and involve a minimum of alteration to the aircraft installation.
