Origin. To reduce complaints of water leaks from Water pump gland. Report of Experimental Test. The gland packings have been fitted to Phantom III 25/30 and Bentley. 6-B-IV Bentley ran 15,000 miles without attention to the gland. There was no sign of water leaks. The condition of the packing and rotor shaft was good after the test. It has been used by Bentleys for a number of years with every satisfaction. No moulds are needed to form the packing. A piece 2.6" long is cut off and placed in the gland and screwed up.
