Sidgreaves - MD}5/E.28.11.34. Re Experimental Car 5-B-IV. Since seeing the car I have been following up the question of weight, as it seemed to me that the coachwork on this car looked as if it would be unduly heavy. I have been unable to obtain any detailed information but E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}9/HP.26.11.34 says that the complete weight of the car is 33 cwts. 3 qrs. 14 lbs. This appears to mean that an experimental chassis has been produced and fitted with a body built specially for the Experimental Dept. under the supervision of Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, the total weight of which is just about 2 cwts. above our maximum for a car of this type. If this is true, it seems worthy of investigation, especially when we hear arguments as to the advisability of introducing a modification, which would be expensive, on production to save 5 lbs. in weight!
