Tests and modifications to a Bendix unit in comparison to a Bijur scheme.

| (2) We firstly test a present Bendix in good condition, and secondly we fit a Bendix up with several different springs and possibly different angles of thread. Of these the most hopeful arrangement is No. 1 shewn in the sketches. In this arrangement the main spring is used without end pressure so that it is required for torsion only and can therefore be more flexible, the required end pressure being created by other springs as shewn. Naturally if we can improve the Bendix so as to make it nearly as good as the Bijur there will be no need to change to the Bijur scheme. If however we cannot make a Bendix which is better than the impression I have we shall be obliged to alter to the Bijur and we are making a design which is suitable for application to the cars with Bendix. In conclusion, I shall be glad to know if Mr. Hives found the Bendix on the blue car to be wrong. NOTE. The sketches referred to will follow later in the form of LeC. drawings.
