BRITISH MADE Diagram Sheet (2) FOR THE HOBSON K-S TELEGAGE MADE BY H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} HOBSON, LIMITED Telegrams: "ASSEMBLAGE, LONDON." Telephone: "Chiswick 4231 (4 lines.)" 47/55, THE VALE, ACTON, LONDON, W. 3. Fig 1—Tank Unit. Labels: Top Plate, Pressure Balance Chamber, Air Line Connection, Pressure Balance Air Line Connection, Air Cup, Hole D, Air Delivery Tube, Support Tube, Air Tube, Air Chamber, Hole C, Bell Plate. Fig 2—Head. Labels: Glass Tube, Air Line, Red Liquid, Brass Tube, Lock Nut, Calibrating Wire, Pressure Balance Air Line, Dual Air Line Assembly, Flexible Metal Tube. Fig 3. Telegage in Operation, Tank empty. Fig 4. Telegage in Operation, Tank full. Labels for Figures 3 & 4: Air Line, Petrol Tank, Air Tube, Air Chamber, Pressure Balance Air Line, Pressure Balance Chamber, Full, Empty, Connections, U-Tube, Special Red Liquid. Figures 3 and 4 show a simple Pressure Balance Telegage. The Air Cup, and Air Delivery Tube have been omitted as they take no part in the reading of the gauge. They are simply used as a means of supplying air to the Air Chamber to overcome any loss by absorption. If one of the air line connections are opened while the tank contains Petrol the trapped air will escape and petrol will rise in the Tank Unit to the same level as in the tank. Similarly the liquid in the U-tube will fall until the same level has been reached in both sides, which should be at the “Empty” mark. Now, if the connection is again made, the gauge will still read “Empty” until the Air Chamber and Air Tube are cleared of petrol and again filled with air. This is accomplished by the surge of the petrol as explained in the “Correction Sheet” under “Test No. 1.” (THIS IS NOT THE CORRECTION SHEET.) | ||
