Springs and Shock absorbers. X.2628 X.3461.

On the American cars thin leaf springs have been adopted without shock absorbers. This would be the same as the English production cars. We are just about at the moment adding leather gaiters for the sake of lubrication. These should also be adopted on the American cars.

Regarding shock absorbers, these certainly should be fitted to all the light open cars both in the English and the American production, especially in consideration of a universal use of the more resilient cord tyres. My recommendation is that they should be fitted to all chassis with such spare bushes and pins as are necessary to replace if the wear is unsatisfactory, but better than not fit them at all, they had better be fitted even if afterwards discarded. We now think that cars cannot be considered hardly satisfactory without them, especially those with light bodies.
