CHASSIS - RE FOOT BRAKE ADJUSTMENT. -------------------------------------------- In view of the fact that we have had a number of cars seize up on the brakes, as a result of the increased use of the brake resulting from customers using the synchromesh mechanism in order to obtain higher road speeds, it is necessary until such times as we can introduce a steel shoe to increase the lever movement for brake application above the extra 1/8" which was introduced for this purpose, so that now whereas we started with .75 movement and went to .875 we should now go to 1". As soon as we are in the position to introduce steel shoes we will then go back to a smaller movement, the particular amount being determined experimentally. The nickel chrome cast iron ribbed drum by its increased rigidity and reduced wear gives us sufficient margin to justify the increased clearance. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [Signature] | ||
