1370 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}2/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 11th March, 1937. Messrs. Dunlop Rubber Co.,Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of H.E. Price, Esq. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of March 6th. We put one of the Hiduminium rims on the bumper chassis, and it has now done a very prolonged test. We can see nothing wrong with it, and are, therefore, putting the other four on a car for road mileage. After making sure that they do not break during ordinary driving, we will subject them to severe cornering, and let you know the result. If we ever did decide to standardise an Aluminium rim, would you have great difficulty in making them, and would the cost, from our point of view, be prohibitive ? We should probably be interested in a 17 x 4 wheel. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
