PRIVATE. 26th. January, 1925. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Hives, Esq., c/o Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Limited, Nightingale Lane, DERBY. Dear Hives, Re:- "EAC" I have been thinking over the question of the ignition oil relay gear as now fitted to the "EAC" since we were at Derby, and, as you know, the Administration are somewhat concerned regarding this gear, particularly as concerns the possibility of failure due to sticking up owing to the presence of particles of carbon or other mechanical impurities in the oil. It has occurred to me that it should be possible to design a centrifugal oil separator to deal only with the oil which is supplied to this gear, and which would with certainty remove all particles of a given size. Have you at any time considered such a device, and do you think it would be of assistance in this matter? Truly yours, [Signature] | ||
