X.3701 RE. FREEZING UP OF FILTER IN THE BACK TANK.
X.4160

With reference to your remarks concerning the freezing up of the filter in the back tank, I must admit that we know very little of the severe winter conditions that you get abroad, English winters being particularly gentle. At the same time I should not have expected that you would have been bothered with much water in petrol; very rarely we get water in petrol.

The small filter on the float chamber wasR. looked upon as an addition to the outgoing one in the rear tank, so should not get blocked or frozen and need not be large.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
