MACONITE IGNITION CABLES.-

The ignition wires at this mileage show slight cracks appearing in the insulation. The appearance of the wires is very poor.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD.-

The exhaust manifold has remained intact. Up to the present mileage there has been no blows from the joints. The exhaust system generally, as reported, has failed and has been condemned. A complete new all steel exhaust system has now been fitted.

GENERAL LUBRICATION. OIL PUMP ON DASH TO L.O.P. F.82353 - N.S.3115. 50% larger Oil Pump, with Pedal Countershaft to N.SCH. 3115.-

The position of the pedal operating the oil pump is quite accessible, and is easily operated by the driver whilst driving. We have had one or two oil leaks from the junctions of the pipe lines of the central oiling scheme. It is questionable whether these joints were thoroughly tightened up in the first place. We have had several failures of the bijur plugs, i.e. bijur supplying the servo, bijur supplying the bottom bearing of o/s control arm, bijur supplying n/s rear shock damper, n/s front spring shackle bijur, and rear insufficient supply. These bijurs had ceased to pass any oil, and have had to be changed.

BATTERY AND FITTINGS TO L.O.P. F.80947 - N.S.3114. (1) Revised Battery Box to suit Cantilever Suspension. Rolled angle flange. (2) F.{Mr Friese} & R.{Sir Henry Royce} battery:-

The cantilever suspension of the battery has given no trouble. The battery has remained firm up to this mileage. Loss of water from the battery using half charge, is rather on the heavy side, an average of .125 gall. of water has been needed to top up the battery every 1000 miles.

PETROL TANK TO L.O.P. F.80833 - N.S.3058. (1) Hinged Filler Cap, using leather washer in place of rubber. (2) Double filter to give 3 galls. reserve.-

There has been no trouble with the petrol tank. The anchorage is still good. The reserve of 3 gallons has been constantly used, and no trouble has been experienced. The hinged filler cap is a considerable improvement. At no time during the test has it become loose. The control tap arranged at the side of the frame is not at all satisfactory and has given quite an amount of trouble. This arrangement is only temporary and requires correctly designing.
