R R.{Sir Henry Royce} 288A (100 T) (S H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 159, 11-8-30) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 9800 2. to flatten out engine impulses at certain critical speeds. We may cite the Austin 20 HP clutch as the best example we know of, where the picking up difficulty has been overcome, although the energy stored in the flywheel at certain speeds has a tendency to produce a shuddering effect. In these cases, it has been found that an increase of clamping pressure over and above that required to transmit the maximum drive has been of material advantage. Following Mr Frood's interview with your Mr Bailey on Tuesday last, we understand that you would like to discuss the matter of your clutch designs further. The writer will be pleased to assist in any way possible at any time. By Mr Frood's instructions, we are making up 4 sets of Ferobestos non-impregnated discs, 10.5" outside diameter, 8.4" inside diameter, .2" thick, and under separate cover, are sending you two sets - the remaining two sets should reach you by Tuesday next. We have made the linings as near to thickness as possible - the minus difference in five linings being only 1/64", which is as close as we can possibly work. We mention the thickness of .2" given us by Mr Frood, as this differs from your drawing G-50213, which gives .187". Trusting you will find the linings satisfactory. We remain, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, F E R O D O L I M I T E D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (Sgd) F.J. Field. Chief Engineer. P.S. We have addressed the 8 linings above-mentioned to your works for the attention of Mr Bailey, so that you can more quickly identify them. | ||
