I confirm mine Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}9/NJ16.2.25 and with further refer- ence to yours By5/H9.2.25, I send you herewith copy of a letter from Thos.Firth & Sons Ltd. dated 16th inst., together with copy of the "table" giving particulars to which they propose to make the new front springs F.53332 which we are to obtain for testing out. The blueprint F.53332 shows clip plates with the ears set back a distance of 1.25% from the tip of the clip plate. You will remember that last October we took up this question with Woodheads and they absolutely declined to make the suggested alteration. In connection with the springs now under discussion, Firths have written Woodheads to ascertain whether they (Firths) can persuade them to carry out the modification, but I have told Firths that I do not think there is any hope whatever that Woodheads will agree. I expect to hear from Firths with regard to this matter by an early post. In the meantime, if you approve of Firth's proposals as set out in the "table" attached, I will arrange that a formal order be passed to them for the 6 pairs of springs required for testing.
