COPY OF ADMIRALTY LETTER. A.S./P.57 Admiralty Offices, Empire Hotel, BATH. 18th. November. 1940. Gentlemen, Pratt & Whitney Drilling & Rifling Machine exs U.S.A. With reference to your communication of the 12th, inst. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}13/ML. it is noted that you have been advised by cable that 3 in No: Pratt & Whitney machines are due for shipment ex U.S.A. in 5 weeks time. From the records in this Department, it would appear that these machines were being required primarily to form part of your requirements for the production of 40 mm. guns. The Contract, however, failed to materialise and, as a consequence, action has already been taken to make use of the above machines on other Admiralty work. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, (Signed...) A.J.Hunt. for DIRECTOR OF ARMAMENT SUPPLY. Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. | ||
