For the attention of Mr. Gaye.

DERBY.

24th. May 1929.

Dear Sirs,

As promised on the 'phone this afternoon, we have pleasure in enclosing herewith a revised drawing of your Piece No. G.53667 which incorporates the special non-return valve.

You will notice that we have been compelled to lengthen the hexagon from your dimension of .150" to .234" to enable us to accommodate the valve. We find it is necessary to do this to get good working effect and a suitable spring.

We enclose a rough model in which a valve is fitted exactly as per drawing, and the threads represent your G.53667, but the front part has not been turned out to accommodate the filter which was an oversight on our part, but no doubt you will be able to with this part to test the working of the valve.

If you could possibly give us a ring on Monday we will do our very utmost to make up one or two correct samples of both this part and G.77106, but before so doing would like to have your opinion on the valve itself.

Regarding the "Enots" fitting G.77018 which forms the banjo stud on top of the rear axle, we will endeavour to produce something which will replace this and which also incorporates a similar valve as above mentioned. We are afraid the assembly will be unduly long as it will be impossible for us to get the valve into the 5/16" B.S.F. shank, and we shall therefore have to make some adaptor to screw beyond the banjo stud itself, which will have to contain the valve and filter, and the nipple itself forming a cap similar to your piece G.77105.

Yours faithfully,

BENTON & STONE LTD.,
C. Eric Wilmer
Director.
