Notes of Conference - cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}/E22.7.38 - R - I think Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} expressed this view also). If, as I understood at the conference, the back axle casing of Bensport is going to be larger or in any way different from Peregrine and we are going to use the same back axle casing on Peregrine, a special effort should be made to get the drawings through from us to enable these experimental cars to have the axle casing which we are proposing for production. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in a recent memo. reported certain faults which he thought could be overcome and it is important that these should be given special attention and that any parts that we think are likely to be modified should be kept back. It was stated that the new cylinder head and new crankshaft referred to at the Derby conference are not now necessary. Hor's estimate was that the remaining experimental cars could be ready in 3 months from now. Re Bensport, arising out of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ.19.7.38, it was decided that the quickest and best way of getting a Bensport was to use the Peregrine engine and put the blower on the front. Various ways and means of scheming this were suggested and discussed. Re the engine with overhead camshaft - No definite decision was taken in regard to this but in view of the amount of work in front of us it is suggested that all design work in connection with this should be dropped for the time being but reviewed later when the position is clearer.
