X235 To P.N. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmL/LG20.12.26. 9-G-111 CAR. X5240 With reference to your telephone conversation this morning. We are surprised to hear that you consider the hydraulic dampers on the rear of 9-G-111 ineffective. The general impression of everyone who has driven that car is that they are more efficient than the standard friction type. The loading on the dampers of the 20 HP. has been kept moderately low so that the low speed riding of the car will not be spoilt. Naturally the extra speed and liveliness of 9-G-111 makes a considerable amount of damping an asset. We are therefore forwarding to you 2 springs to increase the high pressure loading on the dampers. Attached is a blueprint which demonstrates their position. We have only just had the rear springs of 9-G-111 down and completely lubricated. Maxm. This possibly produces a bad impression when braking. With reference to the cutout. Herewith a weaker spring to improve the operation of this item.
