We have now determined the governor spring
data for giving the characteristic requested by
Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/wdl.13/MH.{M. Huckerby}22.2.39.

Main Spring as DW.677.

Auxiliary spring as follows :-

Load - 2 lb. 2 oz. + 2 oz.

Radius of loading .875".

Total deflected angle 170°.

Free angle 148°.

Mean diam. .360".

Inside diam. .296"

Number of effective coils 3.4

Diam. of wire 16 s.w.g. (.064").

The vernier adjustment has been severely criticised
by the testers as being difficult to operate and should be
improved as soon as possible.
