Re Instruction Book. X 995.

Na{Mr Nadin}/S. 3.12.13

In reply to your memo Na{Mr Nadin}/S1/L0251113, the following is Mr. Haldenby's report.

I agree to oiling universal joint on propeller shaft every 2,000 miles only. The ball bearing in torque tube will be alright. I suggest several alterations with reference to brakes below.
I don't think any definite time should be given for adjusting brakes.
It all depends on how much and the manner in which they are used.
I agree to paragraph suggested by Mr. Royce but think the word "effective" at the end is not the correct word to use. Good or regular seem more to the point.
On page 60, line 10 it says "two notches strong". This should be "right over to strong".

Page 62, article "economical running" line 2 says "engine should be run on magneto alone". Should this not be both ignitions. Write Mr. Royce about this as I believe he originated it for some reason.
Page 63, article on gear charging line 8, insert between words required - and "with-out loss of time".
Page 64, article "To stop car brakes" strike out two bottom paragraphs.
Page 65, line 4 strike out from "then have recourse etc." to "available emergency brake".
Page 65, paragraph 3, line 3 say "hand brake" instead of side brake. Talk of the brakes as "the foot brake" and "the hand brake.
Page 65, strike out paragraph 4.
Page 65, article "steering" paragraph 1 strike out par. 1 as this is exactly what should not be done as it will accentuate wobbles.
The wheel should be held as one would hold the contd
