24-EX. EXHAUST SYSTEM.

Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/D14.7.30.

The exhaust system fitted to 24-EX. has not been standardised.

Although it ran the 10,000 miles test on 23-EX. satisfactorily, we had certain doubts about it and therefore did not issue a standardisation sheet but fitted it to 24-EX. in order to get further experience.

We have written to R.{Sir Henry Royce} saying that we think it is impossible to use aluminium on exhaust systems.
