COPY C/O BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES, 29 Threadneedle St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, London, E.C.2. 18th July, 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., 15 Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, W.1. Dear Sirs, Enclosed are blue prints of some springs invented by R.H.Smith of Brisbane. There are also graphs of the the action of the springs from which you will notice the lessening of rebound, etc. In actual driving tests the springs have been very satisfactory and ease of steering is a distinct feature. I brought over from Queensland three models - half size of front spring - which are at present at the office of the "Autocar", in addition there is a letter from Mr. Smith setting out his claims for the springs. No.4 seems to be specially for front springs, 1 and 2 (on big sheet) are for back springs but 3 is for very heavy vechicles and war office use. If you are interested, the "Autocar" people will give you the three models also Mr. Smith's letter. I shall be leaving for Scotland on 21st or 22nd of this month, otherwise I should have brought the models etc. to you after the "Autocar" Editor had finished with them. Any letters for me will be forwarded by the Bank. I am, Yours faithfully, (Sgd) ERNEST A.{Mr Adams} GILL. | ||
