BENTLEY III. Front Suspension
Tests.

We should like W.Bell to carry out the following
tests on Bentley III Front Suspension parts.

(a) Rubber Bushes.

(b) Torque Arms.

Rubber Bushes. Packards use the Inlox type bush
which is only produced in U.S.A. We have now received samples
of similar rubbers produced by Silentbloc Ltd. It is
desired to learn the relative lives of these rubbers. For
Bentley III we have the following requirements for the 2
sizes of bushes.

(1) 1.312" diameter.
Max journal load 1100lbs.
Max end load 950lbs.
Angular movement to Bump 9°
Angular movement to Rebound 13°

(2) 1.500 diameter.
Max journal load 690lbs.
Max end load 490 lbs.
Angular movement to Bump 14 1/2°
Angular movement to Rebound 24°

Will you please apply the maximum loads to the bushes
and oscillate the inner member through the correct angular
movement whilst taking deflection figures for thrust and journal
movements.

Torque Arms. We have received from the Projectile
& Engineering Co. Ltd. some sample torque arms to FB2924. There
are 2 torque arms marked A which have been arc welded and
2 marked C which have been carbon arc welded.

Will you please load these torque arms measuring the
deflections up 1500 lbs. as shown on the attached sketch.
