| X4605 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} [C. is struck through] AMERICAN ALTERATIONS. It appears from BJ1/D41023, that it will be necessary for EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, yourself and myself, to consider the whole of the American alterations which have been put forward, and definitely inform BJ, precisely which of these modifications we consider it unnecessary to carry out a 10,000 miles test upon. It is quite evident that CJ, & BJ, have discussed the matter, as I anticipated they would have done in my original note, and their attitude as defined is to avoid condoning the American offence. Can Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, fix an afternoon this week when we three can get together, and with the information before us, fix upon those modifications which we do not think will demand a 10,000 miles trial, when we can make a list of same and each of us will apparently have to initial the list so that if any trouble occurs due to the incorporation of these parts without a 10,000 miles test, it will be our responsibility.
